The Klein Company’s executive management team brings a full range of development, construction, and management expertise to luxury multifamily development. A well capitalized, entrepreneurial organization, The Klein Company can respond quickly and expertly as real estate opportunities present themselves in the marketplace.

Stephen Klein created an apartment development and management real estate firm over the past 40 years. Our activities are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Orlando, Florida. Our forte is developing luxury, multifamily rental housing for clients of all generations.

Prior to starting his company, Klein began his legal career as an associate with Blank, Rome, Comisky & McCauley, specializing in mergers and acquisitions.

Stephen holds a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, is a graduate of Temple University’s Law School, and received a graduate law degree in taxation from New York University. He has been recognized for his charitable contributions to both business and local communities.

Jim has been involved in various types of real estate throughout his career. During his early years, he worked with a “Big 10” Accounting firm auditing various real estate entities. He then worked with one of the major shopping center developer/operators in the country; his last position there was Assistant Corporate Controller.

In 1984 Jim started with The Klein Company and has grown along with the Company. He is involved in every facet of the business from pre-selection of a site, through the development process, to construction, finance, and finally, to management. He has each department head reporting to him on the status of their properties.

Jim has a B.S. in Accounting from Widener University. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Institute for Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Apartment Association.

Donna oversees all operational and financial aspects of the Company’s portfolio of luxury multi-family communities located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida. Donna is directly involved in the planning, development, marketing and lease up of new multi-family communities.

As an accomplished senior executive with a career spanning more than thirty years, Donna has delivered proven financial results through progressive leadership and change management. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of strategic plans, operating and capital budgeting, financial analyses, risk management, employee development, creation of innovative policies and procedures for efficient site operations and the implementation of technology-based business solutions.

Donna holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Chestnut Hill College (summa cum laude) and earned her MBA in Management from DeSales University. Her professional affiliations include the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Pennsylvania Apartment Association (PAA). Donna is an active member of the PAA East Board of Directors (2010-present) and currently serves as President.

Chuck has an extensive background with a variety of real estate companies. In particular, he spent many years as a financial manager/executive in the single-family residential construction industry and served as the CFO for a large multi-family property management company. This company had 9000+ units under management throughout the U.S.

Chuck graduated from Central College in Iowa with a double major in Accounting and Systems Management. He is a CPA and a past member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs.

Dennis Conn has served as a manager for a myriad of apartment maintenance and capital improvement programs for The Klein Company. He joined The Klein Company in 1997 as a superintendent at the Walnut Crossing Apartment community. Since then, he has been instrumental in the growth of the company by directing the construction of Klein’s Chestnut Pointe community and managing the rehabilitation of several existing communities.

Dennis’ construction career began in 1978 when he began as an apprentice carpenter in the Philadelphia area. He later established a company that specialized in new home construction.

Dennis has a degree in Construction Management from Delaware County Community College. He has continued to acquire new knowledge and skills with licenses and certificates through ongoing education classes, including Residential and Commercial Construction Building Inspector, Accessibility and Commercial Plans Examiner, Pennsylvania license and inspection certified, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Manufactured Housing Installer, and he is a Pennsylvania Realtor. Dennis is an active member of the Pennsylvania Association of Code Officials, Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors.

Joined The Klein Company in 1988, and has served as Controller since 1992. As Controller Kay is involved in all aspects of The Klein Company, from overseeing the Accounting Department, to HR, to IT and deals with both the Property Management and Development sides of the company. Kay received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Moravian College.

Melinda began her career in multifamily real estate in 2006 at The Klein Company where she held the position of Regional Manager. Her career path took her on a journey with other privately held multifamily real estate firms where she served as Regional Manager and Director of Operations. She has supported operations in multiple states and has diverse experience that includes development, lease-up, acquisitions and dispositions.

Melinda holds an M.B.A. from DeSales University, a CAM® and CAPS® designation and is also a member of the National Apartment Association, Advanced Facilitator Trainor. She has received several awards and accommodations during the course of her career – including, 2019 NJAA Regional Manager of the Year. She re-joined The Klein Company in 2023 as Regional Vice President overseeing operations in our Pennsylvania market.
