The Klein Company’s executive management team brings a full range of development, construction, and management expertise to luxury multifamily development. Stephen Klein created an apartment development and management real estate firm over the past 40 years. Our activities are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Orlando, Florida. Our forte is developing luxury, multifamily rental housing for clients of all generations.
Prior to starting his company, Klein began his legal career as an associate with Blank, Rome, Comisky & McCauley, specializing in mergers and acquisitions.
Stephen holds a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, is a graduate of Temple University’s Law School, and received a graduate law degree in taxation from New York University. He has been recognized for his charitable contributions to both business and local communities.
Jim has been involved in various types of real estate throughout his career. During his early years, he worked with a “Big 10” Accounting firm auditing various real estate entities. He then worked with one of the major shopping center developer/operators in the country; his last position there was Assistant Corporate Controller.
In 1984 Jim started with The Klein Company and has grown along with the Company. He is involved in every facet of the business from pre-selection of a site, through the development process, to construction, finance, and finally, to management. He has each department head reporting to him on the status of their properties.
Jim has a B.S. in Accounting from Widener University. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Institute for Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Apartment Association.
Donna oversees The Klein Company’s portfolio of luxury multi-family communities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida. Her responsibilities include the development and implementation of strategic plans, operating and capital budgeting, financial analysis, risk management, employee development and the implementation of technology-based business solutions. Donna is also actively involved in the planning, development and lease up of new multi-family communities.
Donna holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Chestnut Hill College (summa cum laude) and earned her MBA in Management from DeSales University. Her professional affiliations include the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Pennsylvania Apartment Association (PAA) where she serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
Dennis Conn has served as a manager for a myriad of apartment maintenance and capital improvement programs for The Klein Company. He joined The Klein Company in 1997 as a superintendent at the Walnut Crossing Apartment community. Since then, he has been instrumental in the growth of the company by directing the construction of Klein’s Chestnut Pointe community and managing the rehabilitation of several existing communities.
Dennis’ construction career began in 1978 when he began as an apprentice carpenter in the Philadelphia area. He later established a company that specialized in new home construction.
Dennis has a degree in Construction Management from Delaware County Community College. He has continued to acquire new knowledge and skills with licenses and certificates through ongoing education classes, including Residential and Commercial Construction Building Inspector, Accessibility and Commercial Plans Examiner, Pennsylvania license and inspection certified, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Manufactured Housing Installer, and he is a Pennsylvania Realtor. Dennis is an active member of the Pennsylvania Association of Code Officials, Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors.
Clay has worked with The Klein Company for more than 15 years. As Vice President of Development he is responsible for all aspects of the real estate development process including site acquisition, market analysis, site planning and engineering, architectural design, and zoning and entitlements including the acquisition of all required governmental approvals and permits.
After receiving a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982 and having previously earned a B.A. in Business-Marketing from the University of Utah, Clay worked briefly for a small architecture firm before taking his first development position with a retail specialty firm. Since then he has directed the planning, entitlement, and construction of more than 80 projects ranging from single family subdivisions to regional malls.
In 2006, as President of the Bryn Eyre Land Company, a partnership formed to develop an abandoned iron ore mine site in Berks County, Pennsylvania, he successfully completed a 3-year effort to plan and entitle the 3,000 acre site as a neo-traditional master planned community. Prior to that, he was Director of Heritage Building Group’s Premiere Properties and Principal of Chandler & Associates, a full-service real estate planning and development firm. Clay is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Congress of New Urbanism.
Joined The Klein Company in 1988, and has served as Controller since 1992. As Controller Kay is involved in all aspects of The Klein Company, from overseeing the Accounting Department, to HR, to IT and deals with both the Property Management and Development sides of the company. Kay received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Moravian College.
Veda began her career in the multifamily real estate industry in 1998 as a leasing consultant and on-site manager, where she learned day-to-day apartment community operations. She joined the Klein Company in September 2014 as a Regional Property Manager. Veda’s responsibilities include overseeing operations of all Klein communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Veda holds ARM® and CPM® designations through Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) as well as CAMT and CAPS designations through National Apartment Association (NAA). She is committed to remarkable internal and external customer service and operational excellence.
Deanna began her career in multifamily real estate in 1996 on-site and has held many positions including Director of Operations and Vice President, Operations. She has worked in multiple markets encompassing both the east and west coast specializing in new construction luxury communities and mixed-use. She joined The Klein Company in 2018 as Regional Property Manager overseeing operations in our Florida market.
Deanna holds CAM® designation and Florida Real Estate License. Organized and diligent in planning, budgeting with a focus on innovative management techniques. She is committed to building and driving efficiencies, strategic financial planning, superior customer service and supporting team members.
Al began his career in the multi-family housing industry in 1997. Since then, he has continued to acquire knowledge, skills and experience that have furthered his career. Al joined The Klein Company in 2015 as Service Manager at our Walnut Crossing community in Royersford, PA. Al’s leadership and dedication contributed greatly to the success of the property and the onsite maintenance team.
In 2020, Al was promoted to Regional Service Manager. Al provides direct support to the onsite management teams that includes service team training, capital budget preparation, capital project completion and contracted vendor services. Al ensures that maintenance operations at all Klein communities are conducted in accordance with Klein Company standards.
